Our Location
The Virginia Construction Trades Academy campus is situated in a historic town nestled among scenic mountains. The Holston Mountain Range, which merges into the famous Blue Ridge Mountains, is visible from the campus.
The Virginia Construction Trades Academy is located in Bristol, Virginia. Bristol is a part of the Tri-Cities region, which also includes Johnson City and Kingsport, Tennessee. The campus is located only a short distance from the heart of downtown Bristol and is near The Pinnacle, The Falls and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. There are no other Virginia Construction Trades Academy locations, either in the state of Virginia or outside of Virginia.

VCTA History
In 2024, Abrahm Smith, Cameron Smith and William Smith purchased the property at 1000 Rhode Island Avenue with the intention of opening a unique hands-on training academy with a focus on job skills in the construction trades.
The name of Virginia Construction Trades Academy was chosen as the name for the school so that the name would be descriptive and distinctive. The vision for the Virginia Construction Trades Academy is to provide a training school for the building trades in the Tri-Cities and beyond. The Virginia Construction Trades Academy is a private Academy and is governed by a Board of Directors that is made up of the owners.
To connect with the Tri-Cities, the local workforce and to provide guidance and recommendations on operational matters a local Advisory Board was established. This Advisory Board is made up of individuals with connections to education, the construction industry and workforce development.
Our Campus
The campus is located on eight (8) acres in Bristol, Virginia located on Rhode Island Avenue.
There are two primary buildings that are identified as instructional space and to house the administrative offices and student commons area.
The first building is 9,550 square feet and the second building is 23,000 square feet. Additionally, there is a 90,000 square feet concrete slab that is used for student projects and parking.
